Political Impact

As a high school senior about to go off to college the different plans that each presidential candidate has an immediate impact on my life, not only their educational plans but also their plans for the economy. And while each candidates plan has positive points the one I most agree with that would benefit me the most would be the Obama Biden plan.
Under Obama’s education plan college will be made affordable for all American families through a new American opportunity Tax Credit. Through this new universal plan which is also fully refundable, it is ensured that the first $4,000 of a college education is completely free for most Americans. The plan also will cover two-thirds the cost of tuition at the average public college or university and make community college tuition completely free for most students. This means that for someone like myself, who plans on going straight to a university after high school I would be eligible to get $4,000 from the government to go towards my tuition, and although that really isn’t to much when you look at how costly college has gotten, it is still more than some people (including myself) have right now. On top of that $4,000 for those going straight to a university Obama would also want to make community college completely free for most students, that mean that maybe if you can’t or don’t want to go straight to a university then you can just go to a community college free of charge and then transfer to a university later. However, this all can’t come with no price. Obama’s plan also states that if you receive this credit, you must complete 100 hours of community service. That to me, doesn’t really sound like much, for a college education all you have to do is a little community service, by doing something good for your community you can further your education. Obama and Biden plan to simplify the financial aid process by removing the current federal financial aid application and letting families apply by simply checking a box on their tax form. That means that they would use your tax information and eliminate the need for a separate application for financial aid.
